Good Afternoon everyone!! Although its Spring Break I still want to blog and keep you all updated of how I am spending my Spring Break. Yesterday since it was pouring in the city we are staying in, Lihue, we decided to go somewhere on the island where the sun was shining. We jumped in our rental car and drove about 25 mins south to a city called Poipu and went to the beach there. It was sunny and beautiful. The water was crystal clear and the brightest blue I have ever seen. Sadly the week we come to Kauai it has a rain storm so we are trying our best to avoid and visit other cities on the island that are sunny.
Poipu was beautiful and we had our own little cove on the beach just for us. We brought speakers and played our favorite bands and zoned out to the sound of music, the sun kissing our bodies, and the salt particles in our hair. Couldnt have asked for a better way to spend my day!!
Aloha Monday everyone! For many of us its Spring Break. My favorite time of the year. Lucky me, I’m spending my week in Kauai with my best friend Mali and her father. I am so grateful to be apart of their family vacation and being able to leave Santa Barbara for a week to get a break. Lately I’ve had too much on my mind and I’m happy to be able to escape for a week.
After a long day of traveling today we were still able to make it in time to have a jump in the ocean and enjoy the pool area. I must say the ocean temperature is heaven compared to Santa Barbara’s water. Water crystal clear and warm. Can’t get much better then that. Having the salt stick to my skin, salt in my hair, and salt water burn my eyes from cleaning them I couldnt be happier.
Today is a sad and happy moment for the MAD Academy. Today will be the last day in our location. We are very lucky to be moving into a brand new beautiful building on the other side of campus by the English building. Although we are all excited to be moving into a new and bigger building we will all miss this location very much. Over the years many memories have been made in this building and we surely won’t forget them. Since MAD is expanding every year with more and more students we had to upgrade to a bigger size building. The bright side to the new building is we have 10x more space for all the activities we need to do and for all the students that are in the academy. The only down side to the new building is its all the way on the other side of campus and all my classes are 10 seconds away from the old location. No more passing period snack time for me. I guess I can replace my every period snack time with the work out I’ll be getting by trekking up that hill to the new academy.
This building is one of a kind and will be dearly missed, but it’s time to make new memories in a new building. Thank you so much for all the memories you have given me MAD Academy and I’m ready to make new ones in the new building.
Happy Wednesday everyone! Only 3 days till the weekend and Spring Break for me! The vacation I’ve been waiting for all year. Although I love winter and being on break for 2 weeks, Spring Break is by far my favorite. It feels like summer and reminds me of all the good times I will have in just a short few months. Since Spring Break is around the corner and I’ll be spending my week in Kauai I’ve been working out as much as I can. They don’t call it bathing suit season for nothing 😉
A few days ago my mum and I took our weekly hike at Inspiration Point like we always do. It was a beautiful clear day with bright blue skies and not a single cloud in the sky. I couldn’t help but capture the beauty on my phone. I know I always talk about Inspiration Point on here, but it is by far my favorite hike in Santa Barbara. Its close to my mum’s house and is a great view of Santa Barbara. If you are ever in SB I highly recommend you checking it out. Click here for directions.
This previous weekend was a good friend of mine Mccailey’s Sweet Sixteen. After weeks and weeks of talking about it it finally was here! As the party was approaching McCailey and I wanted it to have a unique theme so we spent hours thinking and exchanging ideas to one another and finally we came up with the perfect theme! Girls in Pearls, Guys in Ties. Explains McCailey so much! Such a classy theme.
Finally Saturday was here and it was the big day. Spent all week at school talking about it and spent all day Saturday wishing it was 8:30 already. When 8:30 arrived I had possibly the biggest smile on my face. My friend Mackenzie and I hitched a ride with a few of our guy friends who lived close by to my dad’s house to the venue. When we arrived we checked in with the bouncers and ran upstairs to see how everyone dressed up and see how the party was going. Of course outgoing me goes right to the dance floor and starts busting moves. As the night when on I had more and more fun. It was a perfect night and I couldnt have spent it with anyone else then everyone who was invited.
The image to the left is one of the images we took in the photo booth. Many people just ran into the booth and started taking pictures with us. Who cares though because it turned out to be such a cute picture! Happy 16th Birthday Cailes!
Happy Monday everyone!! After a rough weekend of being sick it’s a new week to start over! This week is the last week before Spring Break. Too stoked!! Lately I’ve been in love with this song and can’t stop replaying it. It’s so catchy and always puts me in a good mood! The lyrics are perfect and I love to just sit there and admire them. This song is a remix by Purity Ring. The original song is by Soulja Boy.
Purity ring is a band with Megan James and Corin Roddick. The band was formed in 2010 in Edmonton, Canada. The band falls into the music genres of: Synthpop, dream pop, post-dubstep, indietronica, and witch house.Purity ring is singed with 2 labels; 4AD and Last Gang. I personally love their music and strongly recommend you going to their website and exploring more of them. Click here for their website.
As one of the sophomores without their licenses I can’t go off campus and travel to any restaurant every day for lunch as I would like to. Some days I’m stuck with the option of going to Milpas. Which is a near by street to the high school that has numerous food stations to eat at. Sadly I am not a fan of any of them and rather choose to not eat then eat at them. Recently the street got a new fast delicious place to eat, The Shop. Finally a restaurant that I don’t mind to eat at. The Shop is a delicious, healthy fast food place. They range from many different entrees. I highly recommend the smoothies and burgers!! They are delicious. They have a great style to them and have a wonderful outdoor eating area. A beautiful place to eat beautiful food while catching some rays. If you are ever in Santa Barbara I highly recommend eating here. You wont regret it!! To learn more about the business click here.
Happy Wednesday everyone!! I know you are looking forward to “Work Out Wednesday” but I decided to dedicate this Wednesday to our MAD lunch. If you didn’t already know I am apart of an academy called “MAD Acad.” Short for Multimedia Arts Design Academy. The academy is for Sophomores-Seniors at Santa Barbara High School. As part of the MAD academy we have a lunch in every first Wednesday of every month. Each lunch in is different food either made by the parents of the students or catered from a restaurant. Lucky us getting a free delicious meal during lunch hour at school.
The images above our taken by yours truly of the process of the lunch in. After the 4th period bell all the students for the MAD acad race to the back of the building to wait in line. In line you get 3 different colored cards (yellow, blue, or orange.) So that way they can monitor you did not cut in line with your friends. Pretty smart I must say. In the image above is a picture of my friend David with his orange lunch card. In the middle is a picture of “the boys” eating their lunch.
As high school students we are very lucky to have a home cooked meal during lunch hour brought to us. The MAD academy is a great academy and always treats us students right. We love you Dan!!
Rain is away and the suns out, of course I have to take advantage of that! After a week long of clouds and rain the sun is finally out. After school on Friday my friends and I (Elizabeth on the left and Mackenzie on the right) decided to whip out Mackenzie’s convertible and wonder around town until night time. When we use Mackenzie’s convertible we always turn into the craziest girls and just always enjoy ourselves and have the best times. We always blare the cheesiest music and sing to everyone we see. Hopefully we will never see them again because we pretty much scar them.
The images above are pictures of us at our favorite spot called “Look Out Point” in Hope Ranch. I’ve posted quite a few photos from this location. It’s a perfect place to go and park your car and enjoy the beautiful scenery right in front of your eyes. Whenever your in Santa Barbara I highly recommend stopping by this spot and take a few minutes away from society and enjoy Santa Barbara’s beautiful scenery.
Happy Monday everyone! Although we wish we didn’t have to be at school or work we all have to. Daylight savings took a toll on all of us. I know it did for me. Waking up this morning the last thing I wanted to listen to was loud up beat music. I just wanted something mellow to slowly open my eyes and put me in a calm mood. Shwayze is one of my favorite artists and is always on my playlist for Monday mornings. His music is very calming, but upbeat as well. Shwayze was born and raised in Malibu, California and started his music career in 2005. His music falls in the category of alternative hip hop. The video above is a song of his called “Lazy Days” and is one of my favorites. Although he is a rapper he is not like many rappers now of days who constantly mention money, women, and drugs. Comment below with your favorite Monday Tracks. I would love to hear what you have! Have a great rest of your day
